We are hiring a Program Coordinator!

Position Overview:

The Existence Project is a charitable initiative with a mission to humanize homelessness. We envision communities as a place where everyone feels at home. We fulfill this purpose by providing pathways for community members who are unhoused to share their story, creating places for housed and unhoused communities to build connection and understanding and building networks of solidarity to amplify action and change policy.

The Existence Project is a project on MakeWays shared platform and the selected candidate will be an employee of MakeWay. MakeWay is a national charity and public foundation with a goal to enable nature and communities to thrive together. We do this by building partnerships, providing solutions, grants, and services for the charitable sector across the country.

Anticipated Start Date: July 8, 2024

What You’ll Do:

Events & Workshop Programming:

  • Lead coordination of the Keeping It Human (KIH) events and community workshops, with support from the team
  • Purchase and prepare all workshop materials.
  • Track workshop evaluation forms and create year-end impact reports.
  • Follow up with participant groups on programming opportunities and calls to action.
  • Develop and adapt outward-facing communications for events & community workshops.
  • Liaise with partner organizations for development and customizing content.
  • Support with communications and social media posting.

Facilitation:

  • Support KIH workshop facilitation, eventually will move into leading workshops.
  • Facilitate storyteller training process.
  • Maintain relationships with key volunteers and storytellers.
  • Debrief workshops with team

Outreach:

  • Build and maintain relationships with storytellers with lived and living experiences of homelessness through direct outreach and through partner organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential participant groups for the workshop.
  • Build relationships and solidarity with local allied initiatives and groups that can offer key impact opportunities (e.g., follow-up actions for participant groups, continued opportunities for storytellers, potential joint projects).

Research:

  • Support the ongoing development of listening sessions with key communities.
  • Track key learnings and measure outreach events.
  • Identify themes to develop around learning content.

Operations:

  • Submit receipts and expenses.
  • Keep track of files and content, updating documents and the TEP address book as necessary.
  • Coordinate with the TEP team to deliver projects on time.

Relevant Skills:

  • Baseline understanding of trauma-informed practices.
  • Experience working with the unhoused community.
  • Project coordination.
  • Social work experience is an asset.
  • Facilitation and public speaking experience.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to ask for help when required.
  • Critical thinking and creativity.
