A storytelling workshop for schools and classrooms that want to build connection and understanding of youth facing barriers to inclusion

“I think we need to let youth know that there is help that they can get and don't be afraid to open up about what's going on..”

Grade 8 Student Participant Reflection

Each workshop explores:

Story – Listening to an intimate story from a professional storyteller

Reflection – Asking questions and engaging in meaningful group dialogue

Relationship – Building a personal relationship to the story through a guided creative process

“Keeping It Human gives students a personal connection and direct access to the real-life
experiences of community members beyond school itself.”

Julie Gennai - Teacher, Central Middle School

We employ and train storytellers who have overcome a wide range of adverse lived experiences: lived experience of homelessness, addiction challenges, mental health challenges and more!

Each storyteller is prepared and supported with professional training & coaching prior to an event and all storytellers come from stable, supported life situations in the present.
